Mark’s Narrative Christology

I’m very much enjoying Elizabeth Struthers Malbon’s Mark’s Jesus, a study of Mark’s narrative christology.  Her summary of the thrust of Mark’s narrative:

[T]he Markan Jesus who proclaims and participates in the in-breaking of the rule of God, restoring health to the powerless ill and hungry, both within his own group and beyond it, insists on continuing to serve those with the least status in society and teach whoever wishes to do the will of God to do the same, even at the clear risk of losing his life at the hands of the established powers, and accepts that risk as the will of God (p. 55).
